Well I bought a pair of these out of curiosity. The Eotac people originally designed a line of tactical clothing that was put out by Woolrich, then they apparently got the boot from woolrich and started their own company. I bought a pair of similar 5.11 tactical pants at the same time, so we'll see if one lasts longer than the other, or if my cat decides to claw holes in both of them before either wears out.
The first difference is price. I didn't find any eotac stuff on the web besides at the company site. They list for $ 60 and I have seen statements on their forum that they are not concerned about the price difference between their stuff and 5.11. The 5.11 pants were $ 40 at skd. Botach has limited colors for $ 20 but I figured I should get the same color.
Both pants are very similar in design. The Eotac pants are longer for the same 30" inseam measurement. They also have a wallet pocket inside the large ass pocket, that's a big plus over the 5.11 tactical pants. The eotac also has two of those smaller thigh pockets while the 5.11 of course only has one. The 5.11 pants have the cord on the back right side that was originally intended to hang a chalk bag off of while rock climbing. The 5.11 pants also have a brass d shaped ring sewn onto the front of the pants below one of the loops, which I guess is for clipping keys to. I have never seen anyone ues the chalk bag cord or the key ring loop. The eotac and 5.11 pants are supposedly made out of 8.5 oz fabric according to their websites but the eotac pants feel MUCH heavier.
Eotac on the right
Not exactly MilitaryMorons but there you have it
I'll be sure to update this in 5 years when one of them finally wears out. The Propper tactical pants are similar to the eotac pants in design, having the wallet pocket but no second little thigh pocket. They are much lighter then the eotac but only cost about $ 25.
The eotac pants are made in China and the 5.11 pants made in Vietnam
