Anyone have and used one? Like I need another pack but I am interested in the ability to carry a scoped rifle and it looks big enough for a few days in the hills.

Your comments are appreciated.

Have one and really like it. It's the newer style with the external frame. They carry a lot of gear and can be set up/customized a bit. I'll say this though...they're heavy. I want to say the pack is around 10lbs empty.

Any particular questions?

I have the phantom and it sucks sweaty donkey balls.

But you didn't ask about the Phantom...

What makes you say that? I haven't had a problem with my Phantom.

I have a g4. It's a great pack but it is huge and it is easy to overload it, I use it in the winter when I need the extra volume for cold weather gear. I have the older internal frame version and have had up to 60 lbs in it with lots of room to spare and it is very comfortable, I imagine the new external frame is even better

It works fine for a range bag. As a way to haul a rifle in the woods it suffers. With the rifle in, as long as it's a large rifle, it will do OK but not great. The problem is the scabbard will flop around and there is no way to snug the pack to the scabbard. Without the rifle in the scabbard it does horrible, the pack flops around terribly and there is simply no way to stabilize the weight. If you are hiking around it just shifts side to side by several inches.

If the scabbard was rigid it would work a lot better. Of if there was a way to secure the load to your back tighter.
