Hey im wondering ive been pending for a month now but does that gurantee ill get approved?

I have a perfect record and everythin i just dont want to spend the money for an upper and find out i was declined

It could be declined, but if your record is clean it will most likely be approved.  You could always make the upper into a pistol if you happen to get declined.

absolutely not.

Pending simply means they've started working on it.

Once a bank accepts a check, does that guarantee it won't bounce? Same situation here.

"pending" is a fancy way of saying that they are waiting for the season to change at least once before doing anything...

Pending has nothing to do with the actual approval other than its one of the first steps.  As long as your record is clean, you should not have a problem.  If there is an error on your form, you can correct it.

You don't want to have a SBR upper lying around the house until you get the approved form/stamp back (unless you have a pistol AR).

Oh, I thought everyone did.  Why would someone NOT own a pistol lower?

^^^ this, I would call 3 months after sending in the forms just to make sure there was not any problems.  Other than that, go to the mailbox everyday hoping that it shows up.

I have found that the best way to pass the time is to start planning for the next stamp (you know you "need" a suppressor for a SBR, right).

*** The above advice in no way guarantees your marriage or bank account will stay intact. ***

HAHAHAHAHA!

I just sent my forms in about a week or so ago and they just cashed my check today.  I thought, "If they cashed my check, then will I get approved?"  I know that's not logical, but I'm wanting this stamp to come in yesterday!

Like you, OP, this is my first one and I'm being impatient.  I have a spotless record, am 99.9% I sent in everything correctly, but until I get the stamp, I have a little doubt in my mind.

Good luck on getting it soon!

Thread Hijack - Where do I go to check on the actual status of my form 1?  I see people talking about it, but I don't know where to go to actually check.  Thanks.

i called at the one month mark, make sure you have your serial number ready

There is no ATF website to check on the status of the form.  You need to call the NFA branch 304 616 4500 and give them your SN so that they can look it up and check on it.  Find out the name of your examiner if you call, also.

NFATRACKER is good for getting a general idea of how the process works and how long it takes by examiner.

Enter your info to help ALL of us in getting accurate times on this stuff.

Pending simply means it's been assigned to an examiner and in the system, nothing more

THIS ^^

But best thing you can do is just forget about it. Otherwise you'll go nuts thinking about it when its gonna come in.

Fixed

I try to keep one in the pipeline at all times...my wife, thankfully, is very supportive of me and is always checking with me to see what is pending. It gets expensive fast though...even just SBRs can get expensive...and they are cheap as far as the NFA world goes. I've sent in an unhealthy number of forms over the last year.

The only thing about an "unhealthy" amount of forms is the treatment time it takes to get them back....

The ATF should assign an examiner in each state's field office(s) for such a purpose where they receive the most voluminous amounts.

I'm about go get the F4 started on a new can, and will be putting a down payment soon.  Only 2 stamps this year.  And probably 2 more next year for another SBR (dedicated) and a suppressor for it and my pistols.

Using this advice I've had an 7.62sd for a yr now and have yet to try it, an m4-2000 for about 4 months... No range time on that one either, an m16 that's been transferrin since December and now a sig factory 556 sbr transferring as of a couple weeks ago! My first transfer took the shortest time too

I sent mine in May 16 and got it August 5. It was my first one and I am still waiting on the stamp for the suppressor.. I sent them both the same day... Can't rush the Fed's..

Fuck a duck, I sent mine in April and I'm still waiting.  I've been told that they do the investigations in bulk and if one in that pile is bad they hold them all until it get cleared up.
