I was at a local firearms establishment yesterday, and they had postban 14.5in M4 Flattops with the removable A2 for $850.00.  I thought it was a great deal, but the front sight is cast.  Is this a "normal" config for Bushmaster?

Despite its porous look it is SUPPOSE to be a forging.

You might also want to post this in the Bushmaster forum. Maybe Bushmaster will explain this better.

I've noticed this also. My front sight has small indentations that give it a cast appearance.

I dunno but the front sight is strong. My rifle fell over on a concrete floor, I saw the front sight bounce off the floor a couple times. Figured it probably cracked or at least my zero was screwed up. Thing never even missed a beat.

Might be a kit gun....  Bushmasters are forged....  You can tell when a front sight is cast because the front and back are flat and the edges are sharper.  Forged ones have rounded edges and you see the seem running down the middle.
