Do you guys notice any difference in recoil between a pistol grip stock and a standard straight one?

Yes, quite a bit.  If the wrist is kept straight and the gun held properly, a pistolgrip is much easier than a standard stock from a recoil perspective.  Accuracy is a different issue.

Many disagree, but I prefer a pistolgrip buttstock.

This provides 2 areas for the recoil to impact your body, thus dividing it in half.  Off the top of my head, there are at least 11 shotguns in my possesion of various makes and gauges.  7 have pistolgrip buttstocks, 4 do not.

I agree. i have the same stock on a rem870 and i like it much more than a straight stock. i think recoil is easier and it is more comfratable to shoot.

I'd say I feel a little less recoil with the pistol grip.

I've never found hip shooting to be painful using a p.g. stock.
