Bob from FN asked my why I haven't peeled off my barcode yet....
Funny because for some reason it didn't even cross my mind to do that.
He said, since I have some rounds through it, the glue may be a little harder to get off, and that it will take a little more scrubbing with CLP.
The barcode is just for movement in the factory.  Once it's shipped, it's no longer needed.
Did everyone else think to do that?

Thread on this recently...but I couldn't find it.  Can you add a poll to make it more fun?

I left all mine on.

Mine are all gone. I use a quality brand duct tape to remove the adhesive. It also works to clean up the anodizing and pull the oils out of the etched logos.

I think this came up on a thread a while back.

Is this the new thing for rifles?  Laser etched is so 2009.  Barcodes are in baby!

Yep, I peeled mine off right after I took it outta the box & before I gave it it's first cleaning & disassembly.
I just stuck it in the inside cover of the owner's manual...

New to the forum, but yes, I peeled mine off. Alcohol took off the residue and the result is beautiful. BTW, alcohol removes sticky stuff, but more importantly, it removes blue and green Lock Tite. Once you get it hot enough to turn white, alcohol will remove all the white residue. I've done it several times and it works.

Just know that after awhile, cleaning & lubricating agents will eventually fade it out.
The barcode will eventually rub away/disappear, & then you'll just be left with a funky white sticker on your upper...

I was instructed to leave mine on by my FFL because "it's a part of the serial number."

I think I'll go remove mine if it's legally kosher.

Your point is? After awhile the gun will get used and scratched up as well.

This.

Although, I will admit, my OCD was prolly the most determining factor of leave it on versus take it off!

It really is just a sticker.  You wouldn't run around with tags still on your shirts or pants right?  It's the same difference IMO

Then again, you could be Gansta and leave the tags on your flat brimmed, sideways ball cap.

first minutes I had the gun in my hand I peeled that ugly sticker off and used electric parts cleaner to get the residue off.   Worked great.

They both came off at the first cleaning.  They aren't of any use and only put there as an inventory aid for FN in the manufacturing and shipping process.
