anyone have any experience with re-anodising to DE from US anodising?

I am wanting to go with them for this but dont have any examples of the finished product.
I am wanting to have a 13 inch rail and both recievers done, the upper being an MUR , I don't want it ruined.

I've been curious of the same but also considering cerakote because I really want something darker than FDE.

I'd like either something that matches (at least somewhat) the Daniel Defense DE rail handguards, and/or replicates the older LWRC "MRE" color that was the more olive-ish shade.

If you have an example on hand of the shade that you want your part(s) anodized to, send it along to Victor at US Anodizing, and he can do an exact match on it. I've done this bunches of times.

Other than a photo or two I don't have a sample of the old MRE color.

I will be sending one of the older MUR- uppers. is it gonna come back looking like a forged one? or will re-anodizing smooth over,
the sharp machined edges.
I have heard that re-anodizing changes tolerances, but I wouldn't know.

what I have has been cerakoted, but the color was WAY too light so I assume it will be blasted prior to being reworked.
I'm still trying chemicals to remove the cerakote with some luck. I would rather not have the stuff bead blasted.

i have done some home anodizing.  it is a simple process.  you will need to find out what grade of aluminum u have.  i think 5160 is what u need.  if it is a lower grade, you will get smut on it and have to clean it off first before anodizing it.  the lower grade aluminum also doesnt have the brightness of the 5160.  but if u are looking for a darker earth then the lower grade aluminum should be fine.  do not use ritz dies.  they are salt based and will fade.  they do make dies specifically for anodizing.  check your local shops, they might be able to do it for u.

good luck
