Does anyone know if DSA offers a new 21" threaded barrel as an option for the StG? If so, how much? Would such a combo raise BATFE issues, or would it be OK? I've looked at DSA's web site, and tried "search" here... Thanks in advance.
Sure, DSA will install a Badger barrel on one of the StG-58A's, but it will cost you alot more, almost as much as just buying one of the SA-58's.
The barrels on all the StG-58A's that have come through my shop have been pristine, as new. That includes the two that I bought for myself.
Since the Badger barrels are US made, there wouldn't be any parts count issues.
I think that DSA also offers a US made 21" barrel that is not made by Badger, and would be alot less expensive.
Give them a call. They will pretty much build a rifle for you as long as they are using DSA components.
Looking at DSA's website, they say they will put a US made button rifled barrel on for an additional cost:
Personally, I'd prefer a Steyr barrel with a 7.62 NATO cut chamber to a US made barrel with a .308 chamber.
Hope that helps.
