Guys I am new to the C&R game, just ordered my first rifle and ammo from Classic Arms. Charged me $62 to ship a 91/30 and 440 rounds? I have shipped very heavy packages across the nation for FAR less (I live in NV, Classic is east coast). Cabelas will ship 440 rounds of 150gr 30-06 to me for $20; have you guys ever felt gouged on shipping from surplus dealers?

Class Arms does have high shipping IMO. I ordered a Romy SKS from them awhile back (only purchase attempt) and got an ugly duckling. It cost me less to ship it back to them then it cost to be shipped to me! Those 440rnd tins are heavy as hell though and that is where the majority of your $62 shipping charge is coming from.

On a side note, I think AIM has very fair shipping rates.

Not that out of line for shipping a rifle and that much ammo plus Insurance and packaging.

$62 is ridiculous

$35 or 40 would be more than enough.

Shipping is higher now that it was a few years ago, but $62 is crazy.  If AIM or SGammo can ship a case for $20 and others can ship a rifle for $15-20 then $62 is crazy.

AIM's shipping estimator shows about $30 for shipping a single 440 round spam can to most anywhere in Nevada.  Various rifles are estimated between $18 and $25.  Classic may be higher, but it's really not that far off.

Samco Global has awful shipping prices.  Get an estimate before you order.

Since you are that far west, it may have been cheaper for you to buy from JG Sales out of AZ.

I would have told them to bug off. It's ok to buy the rifle from them which should be a $20 charge max. But for ammo, see if you can find someone closer. Ammoman.com has great prices and his cost includes shipping.

They wont even ship ammo to Illinois so you should feel lucky...

I know a place that charges $35 to ship a pistol, so a spam can of ammo & a rifle doesn't sound that bad for $62

It is a bit high, but I live up in WA state, so I feel your pain.  Most C&R buys I have done are on the east coast or down south.  Why can't a good C&R shop set up in OR? LOL

try SGammo  They have very fair shipping and very fair prices.   They have a shipping estimator so you know in advance what it will cost.
Aim has good prices but I think thier shipping is a littl on the high side, but I would always consider them when I am looking for stuff.
