Didn't Ruger make a 9mm (moon clips) version of the SP101 with the really short barrel?

Which would be better out of a real short barrel .38 special or 9mm?

S&W discontinued the 940 a while back. You can still find used ones occasionally.

Ruger still makes (catalogs) the 9mm SP101. A friend has one and it is his all the time carry gun. He's a revolver kind of guy.

The 9mm shows much less loss of velocity (performance) in a 2" barrel than even +P 38 Specials. This is primarily because of the better expansion ratio for the smaller cartridge and it's higher operating pressure.

Ruger does not have the 9mm SP101 in its online catalog.  Thanks for the help guys; maybe I will try and find a used S&W or Ruger.  I was hoping one of those new Titanium or Scandium models came in 9mm.

S&W also used to make a 547, K frame with 3 or 4 barrel and round or square butt. It did not use clips at all.  There was also a few Charter Arms PitBulls in 9mm Federal. They work fine with the clips from the S&W and Ruger SP 101. You might also encounter a Ruger Speed Six in 9mm.

I can't remember the exact velocities but do recall that the 9mm beat the .38, .38+p, and .38+P+ with similar weight bullets and was close to the .357 without all the blast and noise.
