found a colt in 7.62x39. 16" lightweight barrel. preban w/ flash suppressor but no bayo lug. guy wants $1000. can anyone tell me something about these 7.62 rifles. i have one in 5.56, but the 7.62 AR-15 rifles are new to me. how do they shoot???

They shoot fine.  The problem is finding hi-cap mags that work.  I have quite a few and they don't feed well.  The only reliable ones I have found are the Colt 5 rounders.  I think I saw the same rifle for sale on Assaultweb.com.  

Tubby is right - significant mag problems and the vast majority of what you'll fund are USA mags.  You can reliably load 10-12 in the 20 round mags and be ok but more than that...

BUT.....

Whine and offer $900 then promptly put a 5.56 upper on it and wa lah....

In my case, I put a Colt M-4 upper on it then an Aimpoint on GGG base...cool gun and now ac/dc  Reliability in the 5.56 and something else to play with in the 7.62.

Now, wanna but some USA mags? I have some to spare
