Couple of questions...

(1) Is there any number between 6001 and 6999 that has NOT been used as a model number for a Colt AR?

(2) Is there any rhyme or reason to the numbering scheme, or do they just change numbers after each gun comes off the assembly line?

Try to find 6002. Don't know the method for model number changes but there is definately a difference in each model of weapon. No different than all the different engine or car models or even BM glanced through their catalogue there is at least 9 post ban models. Not everyone is happy with the same year after year.

Check out www.scott-duff.com

He maintains a complete list of Colt model numbers and is always researching strange variations. You might be able to contact his via e-mail with your question. If anyone would know, it would be him.

Sorry I couldn't help you out more.
