I am new to the whole Class III thing.

My dealer wants $95 to do a class III transfer. Is that the going rate these days, or am I getting ripped?

The average seems to be somewhere around $50-$100, so that sounds about right.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I will go for it then--my first NFA gun. WOOHOO!

On a similar note, any good class 3 dealers to get a .22 can from in the Corvallis area?

What are you transfering? a $300 can, or a 15K dollar MG?

If it's only a $200-300.00 can, then $95.00 would be a bit stiff, IMO.

The dealer I use charges $100, no matter if it's a $100 can or a $50k mg. I figure it all works out in the end. Plus, he's a straight up, honest man, that piece of mind is worth a little something too.

$95 or $100 is a bargain. Some transfers are easy and low stress but most involve a number of phone calls and a lot of extra paperwork, not to mention storage and insurance on a $10,000 gun while it's in the SOT's safe.

Tim- Brass Cartridge here in Eugene is pretty good as far as being helpful, but about the same on transfer I believe. I also believe Vog Arms is Class III, but don't know transfer cost.
