Here's the most recently posted Excel spreadsheet converted to OpenOffice.

C&R Vendor List
Link Posted: 3/16/2007 10:58:42 AM EDT
This used to be its own separate post, but as that thread is about to go beyond the third page, I felt it was important to put it into this thread so it could be referenced into the future.

---------------------------

The following link will give you prepared letters for every vendor listed on the above C&R Vendor link:

Pre-Made Letters are HERE

I created this because the previous links in the above topic don't seem to work.  I decided to make this a new post because people don't always read to the end of a tacked thread to find the most recent updates.

HOW TO USE IT

Each page is a separate letter unto itself.  All you need to do is replace certain keywords with your name, address, etc.

When the document opens, click on Edit > Replace....  This will bring up a new window.

In this window, enter the keyword you want to replace in the Find what: text box, and the text you want entered instead into the Replace with: box.

When the text boxes are ready, click the Replace All button.  Repeat this with each keyword until the letters contain your information and are ready to be printed!

Keywords:
<NAME> ----- Your name (John Doe, John Q. Doe, however you want it to appear)
<ADDRESS> ----- The street name, number, and apartment (if needed)
<CITY> ----- Your city
<STATE> ----- Your state abbreviation ("VA", not "Virginia")
<ZIP> ----- Your zip code - five numbers, nine, doesn't matter
<PHONE> ----- Your phone number
<EMAIL> ----- Your email

If you go through these letters, you'll notice that there should be 25 of them without a fax number.  My suggestion - save yourself some money on the postage.  Make 26 copies of your FFL, sign all of them, and mail out 25 letters w/ signed FFL copies to the 25 companies without a fax number.  Then take the 26th signed copy, and fax a copy of that FFL to the remaining companies with fax numbers.

Now to give credit where credit is due.

Special thanks to...

...Red-Leg for starting the thread and maintaining it!

...No_Expert for creating the Excel Spreadsheet which helped create these letters!

...wchiang for giving me a place to host the file!

...everyone who contributed to, and provided updates for, the list on the original thread!

Not sure who is doing these lists but the two I check on had incorrect address:

These are what they should be:

AIM Surplus
3801 Lefferson Rd
Middletown, OH 45044

Century International Arms
430 South Congress Ave. Suite 1
Delray Beach, FL 33445

Then again I see a few different list and some dead links. Mods, how about some management on this?

Which is why I also said: Mods, how about some management on this? This thread should be clean up since its a sticky.

The Military Antiques dealer apparently no longer exists.  The letter I mailed to them was returned to me.

Also, most of the distributors required a mailed copy - faxed copy didn't always fly.  Probably just better to eat the cost of postage and mail the copies the ole' fashioned way!

Got my C&R today!

How up to date is the vendor list?

Also, can you print all the address labels at once? I know know how to do one at a time but there has to be an easier way.

 Thanks

Use MS Word to go the mail merge. You can choose New Document and then Tools...Mail Merge. From there, you can select what you are going to do. I choose Envelopes since I was printing directly to the envelopes. I believe you can choose labels at this point instead. It asks for where the addresses are coming from, and you select the xls spreadsheet. Use help and search for Mail Merger Labels.

Some of the addresses are not up to date. I printed them all out and went throught the first 15 or so that I wanted to send to and double checked online with their sites to verify the addresses. Then I reprinted the letter and envelopes for the wrong ones. Even with the wrong addresses, it's easier than typing in 50 or so addresses.
Link Posted: 6/10/2007 1:31:43 AM EDT
I went ahead and printed right to the envelops one at a time. So far I've gotten two letters back. The catalogs are coming in and I'm trying to decide what should be my first buy.

Tagging this for when I get near a printer.

MS Word 2007 completely hashes what should be a simple process as you describe.

I found it easier to copy the addresses into Excel (from a text file, which I used for updating and checking the info), size the cells correctly so that a test sheet placed behind a label sheet held up to a light would verify the correct spacing, and then printing the excel file onto the labels.

39 letters on the way.

Does Graf & Sons still give C&R's a dealer discount?

I was just there and tried to sign up a dealer account but it said it was for 01 dealers, made no mention of 03, so I didn't go ahead.

From their site
If you possess an FFL (other than Class 01), Tax ID, Seller's Permit or Resale License that indicates you are in the shooting sports industry, please send us a copy of your FFL, Tax ID, Seller's Permit or Resale License. You must put "Attn: Internet Dealer Accounts" (please include your e-mail address and/or phone number) on your document.

Link Posted: 4/25/2008 6:32:06 PM EDT
Saw that but guess I misread the "(other than Class 01)" part.

At any rate I got a letter from them in today's mail with the proper dealer log-in instructions.

Thanks just the same uafgrad.

What's the deal with that? Did you order a lot? Midway is the only company that got back to me giving me the discount, but I've yet to use it. Still waiting on Brownells. Did you send a copy to Brownells?

I'm active duty so brownell's didn't even need (or want, to be honest) my C&R.

Midway refuses to answer any of my emails and when I get them on the phone they say i need to send in an email request for information.  I *MIGHT* have spent $1k/year there, if that.  Occasional ammo purchase, maybe some cleaning supplies for the bolt guns, and one Leupold FX-2 6x36.

Fuck midway right in the ear.

Does Widener's offer a C&R discount?

I thought I'd heard somewhere they did, but can't find that now. And just placed an order and had to register. Thought I did that already too.
I'm thinking I haven't sent them my C&R yet.
Link Posted: 12/4/2008 2:45:53 PM EDT
Ok, so I sent off my C&R to all the businesses listed & the only company to respond was Graf & Sons.  I need to order a bunch of stuff from Numerich & the C&R discount would really help.  Anyone else heard from them when sending them their C&R?

Try sending e-mails. I know that I was able to e-mail copies of my license to several vendors and online dealers. Not all do this and still require you mail the license but many accept e-mail copies now.

I faxed them my c&r and received an email with a dealer id number to add to my account profile. Took about 2 wks to get email.

I've just gotten my FFL, so I'll keep track of who I get responses/materials from, and update the list.

Here's what I have so far,

I did not send to:
Tapco - Discontinued their Dirrect Sales Program, Distributors only now.
Ellison's Military Rifles - I believe  I read somewhere that Mr. Ellison had passed away a few years back.
CDNN - for reason's listed above

Emailed in my FFL to the following:

AIM - accepted via email
Allan's - accepted via email
Brownells - accepted via email
Centerfire -
Classic Arms -
Dan's Sporting Goods -  accepted via email
Empire Arms - accepted via email
Graff & Sons - accepted via email
KY Imports Inc
Inter Ordnance - accepted via email
J&G Sales, LTD -
Military Gun Supply - Must send physical copy via USPS
Midway USA - accepted via email
Nimrich - accepted via email
Southern Ohio Gun -
W.C. Wolff Company - accepted via email

I Faxed to the rest on the list that had a fax number,
The Fax number for Hoosier Gun Works is incorrect, the correct fax number is 270-282-4896
in addition, I got rejected faxes from the following:

Ricky's Gun Room
Mark Kubec's Surplus Firearms
FGS INC
Dealer Warehouse
MacTec Enterprises

Link Posted: 6/11/2009 10:49:10 AM EDT
Century Arms and J&G wanted hard copies, not fax.  I have been updating the word doc as I go through and submit my C&R,  I'll post a revised version when I am done.

The reply I got back from Widener's:

"We are sorry, but we do not offer discounts to License holders"

Thank you for Choosing Widener's Reloading

Yep. I was informed via Chris in their Industry Partner's forum they do not have additional discounts for license holders.

That's too bad too. I've dealt with Wiedener's for many, many years and have always been happy with their product line, service and prices. I will continue to deal with them but because I have to pay full retail with them they will become a "back up" source rather than a "primary" source. Sorry guys, nothing personal but I gotta' pinch my pennies too.
Link Posted: 1/24/2010 9:48:42 PM EDT
Has anyone checked with Sinclair Int'l on getting a C&R discount?

Seeing as they are owned by / a part of Brownells, I figured they would, but I couldn't find anything on their website. They have a couple of things I want that I can't get from Brownells proper, and of course want to get any deals I can.

Here is the list I have Put together, this eliminates the ones that no longer service C&R FFL holders and any of those on the list with Inactive websites,

Also updates website adresses, added classic arms web site and added a vendor I found at the local fun show. I will work on verifing the other info such as fax and phone numbers.

Is there any updates for the companies accepting/not accepting emailed FFL's.  Any new companies since the list has been last updated?

In regards to mailing out your FFL, I wanted to let everyone know about an application I've been using for a while.  It's called CutePDF Writer; when you download and install it it sets itself up as a choosable printer in your print setup.  All you have to do is opt to print a document using CutePDF then it converts the document to PDF format.  I've used this for resumes and for my FFL because everyone has different word processing software or just different versions and a lot of them can't open one another.  Everyone does have Adobe Reader however, or can very easily get it.

Hope it helps.

I just emailed off mine to Midway USA and Brownells at 3:23pm today. By 4pm I'm already looking at the dealer pricing on Midway's website. Talk about fast!

YMMV, I've found the Midway discounts have shriveled up to the point where its a better deal to not use the C+R discount, but to use a Midway dollar off "code".  Can't use both, so do a shopping cart both signed in and not signed in to your account to compare.  In one case, the items I bought were barely or not at all "dealer" discounted and it was significantly less to wait for a $ off code instead. Orders in the $200-$600 range worked out much better.

Same as shopping at Sams Club or K-Mart, you need to be a resourceful shopper if you want to actually save money.
I've found Brownells discounts to be much more lucrative than Midway so Brownells regularly wins my parts business.   Also Midways standard shipping time was silly, way too many days to get in stock items into the box and out the door.  Luckily they had an estimated time to deliver in the checkout, that made me go elsewhere when I saw the estimate, even though they had more of the items I wanted.

Too bad Brownells is not in the reloading equipment or components business, but then thats what Grafs, Powder Valley, and Wideners excel at, discount of not.

Competition is a wonderful thing!
