Greetings all,

I recently acquired a Winchester 1894 and was curious what it is I have, as I know nothing about these rifles. I did not give a whole lot for it. It says on the tang by the stock Model 1894 Winchester Trade Mark. It says 32-40 on the barrel (assuming that is the caliber), has some proof marks, and further up the barrel are Manufacturered by Winchester, etc etc. Serial No is 335,xxx and there is a 26 stamped in front of the trigger. Overall it's in real good shape. No rust or putting, and has a hexagonal barrel. Any idea what this rifle is worth? Any information is greatly appreciated.

ETA: Will post photos when I can take some.

I have onesimiliar to yours but about 100,000 earlier, made at the turn of the last century. It is in excellent condition with original sights and a pristine bore. I gave a little over $1500 for it a few years ago.  If you shoot it you will find that if the bore is good, 32-40 is extremely accurate.  Ammo can be hard to come by unless you reload. To find out what the market is, look at the online auction sites on guns that have sold.
