Can a Steyr factory AUG optic be put on a MSAR?  If it doesn't fit, can it be reworked?  Has anybody done it?

If this can be made out of a AUG optic i would think a bolt on version could be fabricated.

iirc a steyr tube should fit in the msar optic housing, but otherwise no it wont work in the way you are implying, different proprietary mounting systems. the picatinney rail version above is cool,.where is that pic from?

A lot of these service rifle optics mount to unique sized dovetail rails.
My Steyr has the base under the weaver rail, and whatever size they are it certainly isn't substantial. I think it was smaller than a standard 11mm airgun/rimfire dovetail, but I haven't checked in a while, or ever actually measured it.

Adapting one to fit a weaver base should be easy for an engineer, but it will probably mount rather high.
Here is an English SUSAT sight which has had it's FNC mount converted with Leupold weaver mounts. It should illustrate the simplest way of getting them fitted, and the conversion isn't permanent.

I found that pic in an old post by Pete ( PJS ), he was asking where it came from and he later found it was built by a company called TSC machine. I thought it provided a good example of what could be done to a AUG scope body.

Hey SilentType , look im being helpful.

The Aussies have a similiar style optic that fits to a rail rather than direct mount to the receiver that I've seen.
