For those interested, it appears that Bren 2 is shipping to distributors. There are a few on Gunbroker and the prices are reasonable. Who else is looking forward this?

I am hoping they release the 7.62x39 version that the gign are using.

I'm stoked about it. Unless the reviews suck, I'll buy one.

Do they have any plans to release it in .308?

Are these the civilian versions, or the full auto LE models?

IIRC, the original leo/mil version has been available for a few years, so one presumes this is the semi auto civy variant.

What the hell, how'd the civilian model sneak out with no press release or anything?

These are the current models.

This is a limited release. The official release is targeted for next year according to CZ.

Have not seen the carbine for sale anywhere. Come to think of it I’ve never even seen a picture of a non pistol/sbr version of the Bren 2. Is a 16 inch barreled Bren 2 in the works?

Looks awesome but that bolt release in the trigger guard is going to be a negligent discharge nightmare.

Not if you are following safety protocols. There's a safety switch.

besides, this method of operation is used on the HK G36.

Grabagun has some 7.62x39 Bren 2 pistols as well.

https://grabagun.com/firearms/handguns-for-sale/semi-automatic-handguns-for-sale.html?caliber=2886&manufacturer=2382

Still haven’t seen a carbine for sale anywhere.

I dig the rifle, but the PMAG geometric shit all over everything is way over done. All it needs is a battle worn finish too. A lighter version of the first gen would have sufficed.

You do realize the ribs (PMAG geometric shit) is how they are able to lighten and maintain strength, right?

I get it on the receiver, but the stock and grip? C'mon. Removing material makes it less strong, but lighter.

ETA: the best upgrade is the non-reciprocating charging handle. I'll likely buy one.

Those who jumped on this shipment of Bren 2 pistols hit the jackpot. Word is, this will be the one and only shipment of military configured Bren 2s. The 2019 release will be the “Americanized” version.

I got the 14" 5.56 and it comes exactly like the pics in the LEO/MIL catalog minus the stock and select fire. Barrel has bayo lug with correct flash hider. No idea what if anything will be different when the 2019 release hits.

Replace the cheap 6 bolt barrel retention method.  Because it's the 21st century.

If the bolt release is like the vepr12 shotgun I own, I'm going to love the rifle.

Just so they can appease you lol? Youre the only one I see complain. Bren Barrel retention system is better than AR, Tavor, AK, XCR just off the top of my head. A simple allen wrench, no vise, hammer and punch etc.

The AR charging handle deserves far more scrutiny IMO.

My only gripe is that I wish they were able to make it lighter. That and I just got my stamp for my 805 . With a loaded mag, optic, ACR stock/adapter, and suppressor on, is heavy AF.

I still want one, but not sure it will be justifiable

No, the best upgrade is the gas system.

Fun fact; they changed everything.  I don't think a single part is interchangeable with the 805.

Are you talking about the Bren 2 or your 805? One of the major changes to the Bren 2 was the weight. Its about as light as they could make it...about a pound lighter than the 805. My Bren 2s with 14" barrel weighs about 6 pounds.

Ordered one of the 8" 556 pistols the other night. Very excited about this.
My 805 is one of my favorite rifles and this looks to solve whatever complaints I do have about it.

Articles I've seen suggest 5 oz weight reduction. I've seen the x39 readily available, but not 5.56. I guess I'll wait a little bit.

The upper and lower on my 11” 805 weighs approx 6.6lbs
The upper and lower on my 14” Bren 2 weighs approx 5.5lbs

I’ll take it. Shaving an L-B is fantastic. Weight is what I’ve always loved about the SCAR rifles and I think CZ cracked the code on this one. Weight, price, non recipricating CH. Dank memes bro.

The proprietary 7.62x39mm mags feel FLIMSY.

I'll wait for the STANAG 556 rifle version, but hope the x39 pistol sells well so CZ does import the 5.56 rifle version.

I too find that pattern ugly. Will likely stick with my 805 for the time being.

The receiver's polymer - I doubt that waffle pattern really shaved much weight. If anything, weight savings would need to primarily come out of the bolt carrier/piston assembly.

The waffle pattern is a method for weight savings while retaining strength. It is the same concept for I-beams.

Here is a photo of a TFE1042, a jet engine made by Honeywell for the Taiwan Indigenous fighter program. See the extensive weight savings from the casing. Lots of machining work to reduce the weight, while maintaining strength.

I assume it's because they need to utilize the same magazine retention system as standard AR mags, which
is what allows them to make the basic receiver platform multi-caliber.
