Thread fail as the title needs amending to include thermal if you are tossing in UTMX's Mine is far from small, it can actually double as a boat anchor perhaps even a hammer as it is built like a tank as they say. Well, that settles it, those setups are amazing guys. Good thing for me they are all illegal to use in PA for hunting or I'd be more poor lol.

Yep, but still the VERY best when you want to reach out an touch someone at 700 yards plus! We hear the stories of "other" import brands with mystery 25-30x capabilities etc. for a 1/4 of the price...Trouble is none of them come close to the F/Stop of 1.0 which the MUNS produces amazing contrast and resolution at extreme distances. |

Good luck and be sure to bring a camera with you to da kill!!!!

Missed the 14 (thought it was a magnifier at first glance) and the Vortex.
That's what I get for being hasty. ETA: Which do you prefer, the MUNS or the CNVD-LR? Do you notice a big difference with that honkin' f/1.0 lens on the MUNS? |

Awesome stuff!!! I need a better job RB gets his by intercepting Santa mid-flight. That ZSU 23-4 was hands down the best investment I ever made... I am NEVER on the naughty list. ETA: I like the light gathering of the MUNS but the focus adjustment on it and size make me really dislike it, the focus adjustment on the CNVD-LR (in my opinion) is the absolute best thing going right now... its smooth and easy to find. The Legionnaire is my next favorite followed by the PVS-26. I have used the CNVD-LR with the S&B PMII up to 12-15x fairly succesfully. I have shot out to 500 yards with almost every piece of equipment I have and they all performed just fine! |

I'm almost to the point of putting up a Christmas stocking for my LWTS, the wife and dag might look at me a little though if I did that. LOVE it. Completely agree on the stocking angle. I've had mine since September and it gets used daily in some role or another. Its perfect for the 4x .mil optics, especially the Elcan, but I've been running it in front of a 2.5-10 Nightforce with good results up to 8x. Its also good on the Leupy 1-6. I really like the on-board reticles too, but I haven't had a chance to use it just as a stand alone scope. Detection wise, I can watch opossums and armadillos run around the pasture from 150-200 yards away and be able to tell which is which. Deer out to 400 are easy to spot and ID. I've watched cows from about 1.5KM before but I wouldn't know they were cows if I didn't already know. Just white blips on a grey field. It also does exceptionally well in tall grass and deep woods, The wife and I went hunting last week in a hay field that never got cut this summer. Thick grass about 4' high throughout. We could easily make out deer in it out to 200 yards or so. I've also watched geese fly over at night, saw a B1 bomber zooming by at who knows how high, and spend a great deal of time watching what the wife is wearing. |
