I already have a 7.62 SOCOM and a .45 Osprey, but I'm looking for a 9mm can to run on my Lage MAC-10 and a thread mounted can to run on my M4 clone, a 10.5" upper and a 16" Ares Shrike. They'll need to be full-auto rated.

I'm looking for something on a budget as I've went on a expensive & through firearms economic stimulus package of buying pretty much everything I ever wanted for my guns (Shrike, Lage upper, optics, etc) before I moved in with my fiancé and have to live under the tyranny of "budgets" and "joint accounts". I'm looking at a Huntertown Kestrel 5.56 and I'm not sure what to get for 9mm. For the price of some other cans besides the Kestrel, it would cost me more than the Kestrel + the tax stamp.

Does anyone have any thoughts of advice or thoughts on budget suppressors?

From what I have read here, it's best to stay far away from HTA and their customer service issues.

Check out a Specwar 556. The holiday sales had them at $399, and I'm guessing that we will see those prices again after SHOT.

Bowers seems to be the go-to can for subguns, and they are reasonably priced.

ETA: Don't cheap out now. Suppressors are not things you want to low-ball.

For 5.56 the YHM deal in the $300s, wait for another Saker deal, or a form 1 build.

Tag for interest.

You'd want a sub gun can for your Mac and a Griffin Spartan 3 for a budget direct thread full auto can.

Get a dedicated subgun can such as a Bowers.

I went the pistol can route and while it works okay, comparing it with a dedicated subgun can was night and day.

gemtech mk-9k for the subgun.

There are tons of good 556 cans out there. I would probably look at the specwar or the aac 556sd if you are on a budget.

my local shop guys swear by the Innovative Arms Grunt, should be around $500 for a 556 can.

I'm invested in YHM mounts. I have a YHM .30 cal QD titanium and a SilencerCo Saker 7.62 with a Y mount. If I was buying a budget 5.56 can it'd be a YHM 5.56 qd phantom m2. They can be had for around $500 and include a qd flash hider.

Bowers Vers9S for the 9mm can. More mounting options than you can count. Lifetime warranty for anything. Can't beat the service.

Saker 556 for your 556 can. Outstanding mount options. SiCo warranty and service is awesome.

I have a HTA 556 can and I've had to use their customer service a couple of times. Communication was slow but everything got done eventually. While the can is good I wouldn't recommend HTA based on their customer service.

Link to $300 YHM?
ETA: is a gemtech trek F/A rated? They are $499

Yes the Trek is F/A rated and a great direct thread can. Love mine on my 11.5" SBR.

Stay away from Huntertown Arms. The onlonly thing they have going for them is a low price on a direct thread can. If you want to use the adapter to make it work with YHM qd mounts, you'll have more $$ in the Huntertown can, the adapter, and a YHM mount than you would just buying a YHM can that comes with a mount.

Huntertown cans are also LOUD compared to relatively priced cans. Their CS is the worst in the business when it comes to suppressors. Don't believe me, just Google it or try to get ahold of them in regards to a problem. If you're shooting them an email asking how to send them money for an upgrade, they'll reply right away. Send them an email asking for repair or warranty work and all you'll get is crickets.

There's a reason Silencer Shop no longer deals with Huntertown.

Well I did some more digging on Huntertown cabs and turns out they're indeed a no-go on quality. I've seen a bunch suggested but they all need mounts and I may as well slap my SOCOM mounts on it instead of that. I have an exact M4 clone that I don't want to make look silly with a mount. So I'm stuck with either a direct thread can or something like the Gemtech HALO, which I've seen come loose after a few shots.

Thanks for the lead on the Gemteck Treck. I just picked one up here in Texas for $375 of Guns America. It's full auto rated and thread mounted, so I can throw it on my M4 or on my Shrike upper and blast away.

Do you need a take-apart 5.56 can? Or did you want the kestrel because its cheap?
