Found a Marlin Stainless 22 mag at the fun store. Model 882SSV, Microgroove bbl, 22WMR only. New with a blem stock for $180. Anybody have an accurate round for it?

Also, I found a Sears .22LR in a forgotten closet corner. I need the ramp that elevates the rear sight. Nothing to match up. It's just gone. Marked on bbl...SEARS MOD. 3T CAL. 22 S,L,OR LR. MOD. NO. 273.2390. Looks nearly Winchester. Anyone have a cross reference as to who made it? Where to get parts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know we only discuss high dollar milspec weapons here at ARFCOM, but, just this once, can someone help a poor brother out?

Numrich Gun Parts has a cross-reference list that links store brands with the manufacturers. I know they've got it for shotguns, and I think it lists rifles as well. They could also help you out with any parts you might need for it.

I checked the cross-reference list - they don't list your model #, but several 273.xxx models are listed, all made by Winchester. If you email them, you'll find them very helpful. I exchanged emails with one of their reps for a couple weeks, sending photos and stuff, until they could I.D. a shotgun I have.

Stick to Winchester 40 gr FMJ or HP ammo, or the 33 gr hollow points. They make the only true jacketed 22 mag ammo, all the others are copper coated lead bullets. Winchester ammo shoots the best by far in both my Ruger and Marlin 922 semi.

Just picked up a box of Remington 22 mag with the Hornady Vmax bullet but havn't had a chance to see how they shoot yet.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at 2 Winchester model 290s next to my "Sears MOD.T3"(all hand me downs).

It (the Sears)is marked "MOD.3T" Not "MOD.3T-A". Would the extra "A" make a difference?

I'm seeing major differences in the receivers. The receivers on the Sears is straight on both ends. The Wins have a drop at the front, and a > where the receiver meets the buttstock.

Maybe I have a "190". The Sears model loads the tube from the side and has a plain stock. The Wins have checkering, and load from the bottom.

Can you point me to where I can get a catalog with the cross references?

Most 22's are ammo sensitive, and I have found the 22 mag to be the same. My Marlin 882 likes the Winchester Supreme load with the 34 grain HP. shoots flies at 100 yards. The Reminton with the V-max bullet is only OK at 1/2 inch at 100 and the various CCI's don't work at all.
