My son said if I didn't take pictures he wouldn't give it back. To all concerned it is UNLOADED.

Actually, it probably isn't that great of an age yardstick. I'm only 27, and I got Boy's Life when I was a cubscout.

Boy's Life is apparently still in print. www.boyslife.org One of my friends was actually in that true adventure story comic strip, y'know where one kid falls in the river and another pulls him out. His was providing first aid calling the ambulance when his mom burned herself-not the most exciting stuff. |

Did you make him check the chamber first to verify the weapon wasn't loaded? Good training in Rule 1 for the kid

Yea your a baby yet...And yes he checked the chamber even though I told him it was unloaded. He has had a Hunters Safety Class. Belongs to Freeport Jr. Rifle Club. and is about to take the NRA classes when I get some money together and don't have to travel to the end of Long Island.

He has been at Calverton, Mitchell and Freeport. He has a CZ452ZHM and is going to a shoot at Roslyn Rifle Range next Sat. He is also going to try for his High School Rifle team.....My Son needs lots of practice. He hates shooting with the glove, Jacket useing proper stance.
All he wants is shoot AR15's and now AR10..Which isn't going to happen. He needs to get the basic steps down before banging away. Also his age keeps it illegal to shoot anything over a 22 at this point. |

since when are there caliber/age limits in NY? as for Boys Life the magazine, I got it as a boy scout until I turned 18 and left the troop, in 1997

Afraid so kids till the age of 18 and I might be wrong cannot legally own a gun, They cannot shoot anything higher than a 22 cal.
It also has some restrictions on shooting Game. Yes were all messed up. A kid could come from NJ and compete in the Olympics but a kid living in NY is banded he is under 12. Just found this out |

never heard of that law. I was hunting deer at age 16 in NY with a shotgun. Owning a gun may have an age limit of 18 but I know of no restrictions on what can be fired

Not sure about N.Y., but typically the rule is that kids under a given minimum age (15-18) are not allowed to be in possession without being accompanied by an adult.

Yea I know I guess we were just out numbered at the booths. Maybe sooner or later people will wake up.
As far has I know a kid is not allowed to shoot anything over 22 cal. Until the age of 18. He is not allowed to own a pistol till 21. I need to look closer into it. Same thing like if you own a pistol your not allowed to let anyone else shoot it. Stupid laws and they just started messing with the hunting Rules and children also. |

Damn man, you need to leave NY. I started shooting .22's from my pop's lap when I was like 3 or 4. I went on my first Deer hunt last year when I was 14. Hell, in Arizona a 14 year old can be in the field with a gun by himself. (I believe it is 14, but it may be 16. Pretty sure it's 14 though.) Those are some really messed up laws man. |

Looks like a good kid who has a Dad who cares enough to spend time with him. I see he is being trained in the shooting sports. That is good.
