Wondering if someone could help me with the brand name of a boonie style hat?   Color is olive with a couple of reflective strips on rear of hat.  Cannot remember the brand for the life of me.

Thanks

Lots of Boone hats out there. The reflective strips are cat eyes and are sewn on (with white waxed dental floss if you do it correctly) by the owner.

Think US Cavalry sells the reflective pieces.  If you can't find any let me know.  I might have some extra lying around.

Here you go

reflective tape

Cut to fit and sew on with white waxed dental floss.  They do have an adhesive backing but it won't stick to your hat.  Three patterns I've seen in use are:  two vertical slashes, two horizontal slashes, and two diamonds.  (each pattern was used by a different company)

Forgive my Cold War era larnin's, but what's the purpose of these strips?  I mean, I recognize that they make you visible in the dark, but that seems counter-intuitive on the surface.

Again, my combat training might be a wee tad of a smidgin out of date (thirty years, maybe)

Helps you follow the guy in front of you in the pitch dark.  Beyond 5-10 meters you can't see them.

He also sells on a popular auction site I believe...I bought a multicam boonie which had his flavorings of the signal panel, and vented mesh sides, seller name is Slangvel

Ah, okay.  We used to use Cyalume sticks in these snazzy little adjustable holders for that.  I think I still have one or two of the holders.
