I ordered a sampler pack of the 147gr blue bullets to try them out.  I loaded up about 5 and stopped when I saw what is pictured below.  My guess is, is that I am not belling the case mouth enough.  However, I don't have any shavings with the Berry's plated I have been loading, and I bell to what the Dillon manual suggests, "Twenty thousandth of an inch greater (at the mouth oft he case) than its original diameter".

Anyone have any experience?
I really don't want to excessively bell, as I believe that will lead to premature case failure.
Thanks.

You're going to have to bell more than that. It's just the name of the game with coated bullets.

Never tried Blue bullets but Hi Tek and plated I've used.

Blue bullets are polymer coated and may be softer.

The Hi Tek coated lead bullets I use are .001 thousands of a inch wide in diameter than the plated ones I use.

I also used powder coated lead which is softer than the Hi Tek coating.

A little more bell and no issues.

Just expand more, you'll lose you cases before they fail.

Also, if you use a die that seats and crimps this can be an issue. Although you can load coated bullets in these type of dies I personally prefer separate seat and taper crimp dies. Also the Mr Bullet feeder powder funnel instead of the factory Dillon funnel makes seating coated bullets easier as well.

I use them now, more of a bell with a light crimp. After you make few, pull them apert to make sure you are not disturbing the coating, as it can contribute to leading your barrel.

More bell won't hurt a 9mm case, unless it was weak to begin with. I don't recall ever splitting one.

Maybe a .45 case rarely.  .38 or .357 tend to split more because some of my cases are really old.

Are them blue bullets for NATO purposes?

I'm using Black Bullets -same type of polymer coated bullet- and I had to increase my bell for these. Not a big deal.

Also, make sure your seating stem is correct for this profile bullet- I had to change my seating stem for a flat profile projectile.

I shoot Blue Bullets. Bell/flare more, make sure the bullets are set fairly straight in the cases prior to seating, don't crimp excessively, pull a few to make sure everything is going right.
