What you all are looking at is a high standard police shotgun. It is a 12 gauge high brass only beast. it is kinda old made in the 70's the model number is 10A and is very shot and handi as a HD shotgun

I owned a 10-B.

As was often the case with the High Standard bullpup, it was unreliable and even though I was a pro and spent a considerable amount of time working on it, I could never get it to work well enough to trust it.

Interestingly enough, I saw the beginning of the High Standard Bullpup.

I was visiting in LA in 1967, and just happened to catch the news one night.
They had a report on a Beverly Hills Police detective who had invented a new kind of shotgun for use in raids.
It showed this detective firing an early version he'd built himself, using "I think" a Remington 1100 shotgun.

He was shooting bottles one-handed with the buttplate against the inside of his elbow.

Later, the detective sold the idea to High Standard who finished the development around their "Super-matic" auto shotgun.

It was a good idea, but the weight and bulk, clumsy feel, and price caused most departments to turn it down or only buy a few.
The chronic reliability problems soured serious users quickly and killed it off.

IIRC it was a Remington M58 auto.  The 1100 has the recoil spring in the stock, making a bullpup conversion impossible.  The Sportsman 58 has it up front around the mag tube.

A modern day version of the HS bullpup could be done using the Mossberg 5500/9200 series of shotguns since they also have the recoil spring around the mag tube.  But since Mossberg doesn't seem to be able to keep an auto in production I doubt anybody would spend the time/effort.

A Saiga 12g or 20g bullpup would kick ass but it would have to be a domestic conversion.  I think the 20g would be the way to go myself.
