Has anyone had a problem with them leading your barrel or causing issues?

Or is there a company that makes FMJs close to the same price?

Tell us more about your caliber/load/dies used, seat and crimp in the same die?, and maybe we can point out why your getting leading.

If loaded properly, plated bullets don't cause leading.

I'm asking before I buy.

But to answer your question, it's for 45ACP, Lee carbide, 700-X, and no crimp.

I've never had very good accuracy with berrys

cast and coated from SNS, bayou, blue bullets, etc. are a better way to go in my opinion.

3.8gr CLAYS / 230gr is my favorite

I haven't had any problems with Barry's in 9mm, 38spl, 40S&W or 45acp.

I typically use light loads with them.

With Lee die, I could never get plated to work well. Sizing die never sized small enough for good tension. I suspect that is why they sell undersized lee die.

I liked coated better. Jacket even better. Look for sales...

I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense. Typically plated bullets are larger than jacketed.

The 9mm/.380 bullets I'm currently using are .356" while jacketed bullets are .355" This holds true for the other calibers I use.

I have heard of some plated bullets being undersize. This was a manufacturing defect.

I use a mix of RCBS and Lee dies for the calibers I use plated in. I've never had any problems.

I have been using berry's for 38 and 45 and occasionally 9mm for a couple years now and have never had any issues with them. Just keep the velocity low.

Gave up trying to figure it out. Gave up on plated. Mostly used Berry's so maybe they were undersized. When Bullets can be pushed into the case or spin really easy, there is a problem. No amount of crimp can help that. Not once have I had the issue with jacket, cast or coated.

Sometimes people treat this stuff like it's rocket science or voodoo magic when in reality it's simple.

In all fairness though unless you have a micrometer to at least get accurate measurements on the bullets it can be very hard to figure out. Calipers are simply not reliable for measurements that need to be accurate with an error factor less than .001"

Taking everything into consideration including the chances of error with the various equipment involved I would put my money on undersized bullets. You were not the only one to experience it.

I load berrys 38,40,45 for the last couple of years and never had an issue.

I use Berry's in 45ACP, x39, x54R and 30-06. I actually use the 123gr. plated bullets meant for the AK in 30-06 for a M-1 Garand light load. It works great.

I get no leading or have any problems loading them either.

Recently, I found out about X-treme plated bullets and have bought a bunch of those in 45 and 7.62x39 while they were on sale. BEWARE...when they offer free shipping they will put them on the slow boat from China. My first 2 orders were free shipping and took a month to arrive. I placed my last order on March 15th and got them yesterday the 14th of April. Don't be in a hurry to get them when they offer free shipping.
I haven't had a chance to try them out yet but they seem to be of better quality mostly by looks alone, but they weigh very close to what they should, better than Berry's.

Another bit of advice: don't buy direct from Berry's. That ''shipping included in price'' thing turns out to cost you more than buying from somewhere else and paying shipping.

If you've already bought some Berry's, don't worry. They'll work fine.

I use the 9mm 124 gr Berry's all the time without issues and without leading. Are there more accurate bullets? Sure? I have some 125 gr Sierra match FMJs that I use when I really need the accuracy vs. "just shooting". In fact, even at Steel Matches I shoot the Berry's without hesitation.

I just bought a couple thousand of the Xtreme 124 gr plated bullets as well, but have not had the chance to work up a load with them yet.

I've never had problems with Berrys in 9 or 45. But when I'm done with my current 1500 I have I think I'm switching to Everglades jacketed and try them.

I've always had good accuracy from Berrys plated bullets.  But I develop loads to fit them, as used in my firearms.  Unsurprisingly, to me anyway, the Berrys loads come out within 1/10 grain of the same load I used in the same shape and weight of lead projectile that I used to get from National Bullet.

I've used Berry's off and on for a few years. That's what I started with. Just ordered 1k for wife's G17 Monday as I have not gotten around to slugging the barrel on it yet. They showed up either Wednesday or Thursday and were triple boxed. All orders over $75 are free shipping so it balances out with Xtreme.

They have regular plated that is good to 1250fps and thick that is rated to 1500.

I doubt you'll go wrong with either but I and some guys from work have experienced Xtreme shipping delays on "free shipping" promos.

How fast can you load plated bullets?

I was wanting to stick round 830fps.

On the 115s I have, I've been loading them around 1150.

4.3grs if titegroup under them is accurate and makes them fairly cheap to load.

Speed limit for plated bullets is normally 1200 fps.

Some folks speed, but 1200 fps comes from the bullet manufacturers.

Is that because the softer plating and the possibility of them deforming?

Too much velocity = thin plating cuts through and leading occurs.

That's what I thought.

I agree with this. I do not buy Berry's any longer, only Extreme. I never had any leading though with Berry's.
