Has there been any mention from Benelli as to their plans for the M4 or M1014?

Read down the page, this has been covered in great detail.

Nothing is rteally going to change with Benelli.  They have no plans to build the M1014 here as there simply aren't enough sales to warrant the start-up costs.  Even if the M1014 were to be adopted by all branches, it is still such a specialized firearm that there wouldn't be enough units ordered to make it here.  Making it here would also drive the price per unit up.

After the ban ends, the only difference will be that you will be able to have a pistol gripped stock AND a >5  mag extension on at the same time.  You will not be able to add a telestock, not is Benelli planning to sell these to the general public.

Moral of the story:  Just get the M1 instead, and save about $500.
