I have an M1 with the choke system.  Been trying to decide what choke to use, for tactical use and such.

Full would give me more range over mod.  But mod would be better in the rare case that I'd want to fire slugs.

What choke are you all using on yours?  Or are you going with imp for a wider pattern?  I'm more of a rilfeman than a shotgunner, having fired 100x more rifle rounds than shotgun, so I'm more of an aimer than a pointer, thus the longer range is more useful to me than a wider pattern, if that makes any sense.  I need to aim and not just point.

Thanks,

Why?  Why not full and get longer range?

Mod......best for both buck and slug, dont need to swap out as it fires both tight

The only way to find out is to actually shoot the loads you intend to use with the various chokes you are interested, at various ranges.  Most of the time the advice already given will be correct, but each shotgun barrel is unique, and may not act quite like you would expect it too.

With my Benelli, the IC would be my top choice for all around performance with both 00 buck and slugs.  That is, it would be if I had not purchased a Patternmaster choke tube.  It really tightened up my buck patterns, and seems to be abut the same with slugs.

Full power Federal 00 will usually make a 7 to 8 inch pattern at 25 yards.  Yes, there are barrels that produce tighter patterns out there, but I am happy with this one.
