just curious if anyone out there has had much experience with a Benchmade Rukus 610. They look like excellent tactical folders, but I'm interested in how it feels in the hand. Currently I have an old Benchmade CQC  975 I like and sometimes switch out with a black spydero military.  How is the lock up on the Rukus and where has been cheapest place to buy (I like the black plain blade)
Has anyone had any problems with this knife as far as the action getting loose or blade breakage?
I have quite a few knives if anyone has one they want to trade out..
Any other Heavy Duty folders one might suggest to me is also appreciated. I've been waiting for a Busse folder now since 1998 and Jerry still refuses to make one, but if he does, i'm first in line.
thanks

It's a Benchmade.  Toughness isn't going to be a problem.  I have a auto mini-rukus on order, when I get it I'll let you know what I think.

Far be it from me to oppose a Benchmade purchase.  I like just about all their knives.

Zero Tolerance is a great folder for the money (just over $100)

Crusader Forge offers an EXTREMELY heavy duty folder, but they'll cost you (roughly $500 new).  Absolutely bullet-proof titanium frame lock.  Completely made by hand.  Triple heat tempered CPM S30V steel blades.

You and just about everyone else is wating for a Busse folder.

I'm getting mine next month :D

You will be very happy with that, but I also suggest that you check out the Zero Tolerance line (as mentioned) as well.  With a BM 610 and a ZT 0200, or 0300 series knife, you have the best bang for your buck for a nice folder.  Also, check out Benchmadeforums.com--they'll be able to help you with your decision as well :)

I have one.  IT is frikken big.  I mean I knew that going in, but it dwarfs a 710 in every dimension.  The S30V is tits and cuts soft stuff like a power tool.

My only bitch about it is the clip.  It sucks.

As said above, its a BIG folder. The biggest problem you will have is carrying it comfortably. With that in mind, it fuggin ROCKS as a tool/last chance weapon. The clip is horrible though. The 610 feels perfect in the hand, and locks up solid as a rock. Definitely a great tool in the toolbox, but it wouldn't be my first choice for an EDC. I would look at something smaller or more "comfortable" to carry daily, but still an excellent choice.

I am going to order a auto mini-rukus as the size will be "just right" for me, the regular is just to big for my likes. I have an 9530SBK mini-auto Stryker that I carry everyday and I love it. It's seen better days but has taken abuse well. I'll always recommend a Benchmade.

Be advised to anyone buying a ruckus.  I have both the big ruckus and the auto-mini.  They are both great as said before.  BUT.....*VERY IMPORTANT*.....I snagged the clip and bent it in ONE day.  Now it lives in a pouch on a vest.  Great tool, but sucks for EDC.  I would pick another benchy for EDC.

I EDC the full size Rukus and have had no issues with it. I love the grip, it is substantive and has a very distinct finger groove near the blade. I prefer that in a grip in case I thrust with the blade, it keeps your hand from slipping up onto the blade itself. The axis lock is reported to be exceptionally strong, I have had no issues with that. I have cut and poked and done all sorts of stuff with it. I haven't had issues with the clip, but I don't know that I've subjected it to the kind of abuse these guys have.

Overall I think it is an amazing folder. Anything better would have to be a fixed blade knife.

Well, finally did it... traded three EK knives and $125 for the large rukus 610BK and the smaller 615... They both are incredible knives and I can't put them down... the big one will go on the tac vest..  The small one is perfect for the pocket.  I can't decide whether I like the black tactical blade the best or the bead blasted one.. I'm a happy camper.  I've used the litte one from cutting rope, opening boxes, to slicing steak.. It's nice.  Thanks guys for the input..  I think I'll be satisfied with these for a while...

Another +1 on the clip suckage.  My mini-Rukus' clip broke today while in my pocket ( snagged on something getting up ).  Sent email to Benchmade, their website seems to indicate they ought to be mailing me a replacement.  We'll see.

My 615 is hands down my favorite knife to date.

I picked up my Mini Auto Rukus last night.  Wow!  I'm impressed.  I thought the opening mechanism would take some time to get used to, but it felt very natural right off the bat.  The blade is, of course, sharp as hell, and springs out quickly with authority.  The full size Rukus must be HUGE!  This "mini" is not a small knife by my measure.  It is quite a bit bigger than my CQC-6, but not to big to be carried in a pocket without discomfort.  I'll report back here after I've had it a while to update things.

Clip arrived in the mail yesterday, doesn't seem to be any different than the one that snapped.

So that is what.. something less than a month from request to arrival.

Slow but good.
