Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Are there negatives to buying used?

I was wondering about the possible negative aspects to buying a used lets say Bushmaster. Not about the condition of the weapon but the customer support or the warranty. Is the warranty only for the original owner? Does anyone have experience with this type of issue?

Apparently there's a bit of variety between mfgrs. Ruger honors whoever sends in the gun. S&W, I'm not sure about as I've not had to send one in for repair yet. I buy almost ALL of my S&Ws used, BTW.

For an AR I probably wouldn't sweat it. Other than a bolt carrier breaking, I don't know of too many parts that break on an AR.

A semi handgun may be a concern perhaps.
