Was looking at 308MX and 338MX, are they worth it? A quick search showed finding ammo could be very difficult.

I'm intrigued though, extending the range of a lever action to almost 400 yards as some claim is.... Interesting.

I have a .30-30XLR but haven't tried the new ammo in it yet. You might head over to marlinowners.com for info.

I love my XLR, but he was referring to the calibers themselves (308 marlin express and 338 marlin express) not the firearm.  I have a friend that has the 308mx and he loves it, but personally I like the price and availability of 30-30 ammo.  And unless you are actually shooting long range with your new lever gun (I prefer a bolt action for that) I do not see any reason to buy the 308mx unless you already have a 30-30.   Try some of hornadys leverevolution if you want a little more range and buy the cheap stuff for practice.

I have one in 308 Marlin Express.  I like the gun but the ammo can be hard to find and I haven't had a lot of luck finding an accurate handload yet.
