I've read a little bit about them, anybody have any positive or negative experiences with them? From what I've gathered from other boards, not only are they a copy of the Remington 870, they're slightly better put together too. Parkerized finish, smoother action, and comes with ghost ring sites already installed. The only negative I've heard so far is that the recoil pad is pretty hard, but that's been about it.

Read this thread, Atlantic firearms 870 copy. Same shotgun: Norinco made IAC imported Hawk 982.

Positive experience here, it's a very robust, overbuilt military shotgun.

The 982 is the standard issue shotgun of the Chinese army.
As you mentioned this is an improvement upon the Remington 870; they basically cloned the 870 and made it military-grade by adding a few features at the factory not the least of which is this sweet awesome tremendous bewildering awe-causing ghost ring sight. I have yet to see an aftermarket GRS on par with that of the Norinco.

Like the Mossberg 590A1 is the military version of the 590 with parkerized finish, ghost ring sights and a metal trigger guard, the Norinco 982 also has these features (and others) which the base 870 does not.

The only question I have is where do I get one? For the $200 it seems they cost it's one of those hard to beat deals.

Ask the importer Interstate Arms Co. for a reseller in your neck of the woods.
Most other Norinco firearms (AK, M14) have already been banned from import. Get one while you can.
