Hi,
Here are a few pics of the two...The first pic I purposely put both units approx. 3" away from the PVS-14. The second set a bit closer at around 1-1 1/2" away from the PVS-14. You can see the EO has a much better FOV for night ops work. The AP still works well, and the camera see's much more than your naked eye can. Hope this helps. Aimpoint Comp M  EO Tech 552    |

Is the AimPoint an M2 or M3?
Does it make a difference? Whats the difference between the lens of the ML3 and M3 aimpoints? |

I'm an Aimpoint guy, and I have to admit that the Eotech is a little better in that it's FOV is better with the PVS-14, but these pictures really do not do either unit justice at all.
When I got my PVS-14 from Victor's friends, I was worried that I might have to change over to an Eotech, and I had just bought the M3 Aimpoint! Well let me tell you, both units work so well that you'll be all smiles no matter which one you have/get. Everyone will have their preferences, but for me after using both it seems the Eotech is better close to the PVS-14 and the Aimpoint better a little farther away (giving some peripheral vision around it). Neither, however, competes with a helmet mounted monocular and an IR laser mounted to the rifle. |

Indeed, no NV through the tube pics give true justice to what the naked eye is seeing. I usually hesitate giving EO and AP shots just for this reason. The AP does NOT look this obstructed with one's naked eye. As stated, the camera see's so much more detail (shading, etc.) than than your naked eye can see. I find the EO reticle a bit easier to pick up at night than a single dot though, (just me).
Your also correct about the head mounted scenerio. Nowadays, I usually NEVER use a EO or AP. I use an IR laser and let that do all my talking out to 100m!  It's almost like cheating because it's so effective! Vic |
