Don't have one on an M1A, however, I do have one of their Garand brakes on my .308 Tanker.  It's essentially the same design, and I like mine a great deal...

============

Yes, all US Coast Guard personnel armed with the M14.  Rather, they will be in a few weeks.  The SEI USCG M14 MB has just been delivered to Crane-NSWC.

What are the other distinguishing features of the SEI USCG M14 MB ?

yeah, but that video is awe-inspiring.  Nothing says we can't wear earplugs AND earmuffs!

I have the Fulton Armory "brake" to make mine CA legal, but It's just blah.

I mean it keeps the "look" of the M-14, but its just a bunch of holes drilled in a cylinder.

If I have to something on the muzzle, I'd rather it do SOMETHING...but bleeding ears is not good though...

AyeGuy, where in Ca? I have a SEI brake but no M14 yet, if you'd like to try one out. I'm in the SF bay area.

Thanks DVCAPI, but currently my M-14 is not yet built

I'm in Sacramento. I don't think the trip would be worth it to just blow real hard through the brake...

I have a SEI brake on my tanker Garand and it isn't any louder than a bare muzzle.

I have one on my Bush.

It is amazing, feels like it has less muzzle flip than even my AR sometimes (though I'm sure the Acog makes it more obvious.) I have shot other Tanker/Bush/Scout without one and they seem to have alot more kick to them with the flash hider than one equipped with a brake.

And it isn't that loud, at least it's not to me when I am shooting it

=============
The SEI USCG M14 MB I believe is identical to their regular M14 MB -- except for the the "U.S.C.G." in Seriph lettering on the underside of the unit.  You'd have to contact SEI for details beyond that.  I do know for a fact that the brake was the only type that survived an umpteen thousand round USCG/NAVY torture test earlier in the year that lead to the selection of the SEI unit.  Candidly, I think SEI's oustanding support of Crane on the MK14 Mod O project had a lot to do with the selection, IMHO.

Quote and picture from markuswolf over @ ambackforum.com:

"It looks externally quite similar to the current SEI M14 Muzzle Brake, but internally it differs significantly and the metallurgy is very advanced over the old design. I got a brief on how it's made -- very deep stuff. Also, this design just completed a USG 5,000 torture test with flying colors."

Where do I go for more info on the MK14 Mod O? Is it the same as the Coast Guard variant?

I have a little info posted HERE

The CG opted for the MB instead of the DC Vortex.
