If so, can I get the measurements for the front sight? The sight itself, not with the ramp.

Also, did you go with the big dot or the standard dot?

Which do you prefer?

My ghost ring sight is backordered and I can't measure to order one from XS. I called and they want the measurements

I've got the XS standard tritium dot on my 500a. My factory Mossberg front sight measured 12mm. Disclaimer, from what I have read, Mossberg has made the front sights in different heights, so your best bet is to wait until you receive your ghost ring sights to verify the actual measurement of your sight.

Here are some pics of the front sight on my Mossberg:

You obviously have no clue how impatient I am...

That's a sick-looking shotgun, I like that it has both the heatshield and ghost ring sights.

I agree. Mine will be essentially the same. I'm thinking about the porting now that I saw this one.

I don't know about his, but I have a Tac Star. Nice fit, I can't see why the aluminum receiver would be an issue.

Delta 666, the side saddle is from Tac-Star. I have had zero problems with it "pinching" the receiver. However, I do recommend to anyone that uses the Tac-Star side saddle, use some blue-loctite on the screws that mount the mounting plates.  Also, I put some small 1 inch pieces of velcro (the soft fuzzy side) on the inside of the loops that hold the shells, so that I could carry the shells brass down.

Go with the BD, and wait until you get your front sight first to measure.  Then call Dave with the actual height so he can get you the right part.  Mossberg front sights evidently vary depending on what day of the week it is.

<= Doesn't have a 590a1 of his own, but had played extensively with an XSBD equipped 20" GRS of a training partner.

It's no real rush, I'll wait for my sight....

But I can't see where having the specific measurement of my specific front sight makes any difference. Isn't the rear sight adjustable for height to compensate? I'm not worried about losing zero before I actually zero it.

There is adjustment built in to the rear ap housing, but a seemingly small difference in FS height can make for huge problems.... especially if your sight isn't tall enough.  You could bottom out the rear and still be shooting high (ask the 930SPX owners how that's worked out for them).

ETA:  From your forum title it appears you've trained with Jay.  Ask Dave Biggers directly over at GOTX.  He's pretty prompt to answer.

Don't follow what you mean. I did call XS and spoke with Dennis and he was helpful.
