Just wondering since I saw a South African made 20mm rifle.

Been looking for a bed mount M-61 GE 20mm Vulcan for my F-150, so far, no luck. I think as far as BATF goes, .50BMG is as big as we mortals can legally own, anything bigger would be NFA item? I could be wrong.

I've read about a few members owning them but I don't know who or what they had.

Does a phased plasma rifle in the 40 Giga-Watt range count?

There are a few Lathi 20mms up here in Canada....

We have NO rules regarding max calibers.

it would be a DD (destructive device). thats a bitch to get anyway, due to unreasonalbe costs to be a DD transfer dealer. im not sure about the acual ammo. if a live 20mm round was a DD you would pay your 200$ tax on every round. ALSO, im not sure on laws about importing DDs.

20mm Vulcan case necked down to .50 gets you a Warlock rifle.  850gr running about 4800 ft/sec.  And a little throat erosion for good measure.  I remember EDM Arms made four or so actions a couple years ago.  Saw one pic of one finished rifle.  Looked just the thing to carry in the field...maybe 120 pounds.

There's another that I believe is called the McMillan FatMac.  I think the case was a shortened (instead of full length) 20mm necked down to .50 BMG.

I seen one up for sale for awhile that I am tempted to buy, its going for about 3000$ US. My friend use to have one, and while recoil was liveable and the effect on targets quite beautiful, its hard to afford the ammo.

Always great when you need to take those 2500yrd deer shots.

I think just the gun would need the 200 tax, the rounds I dont think are DD's that need a tax unless there is a certain amount of explosive in them. Am  I wrong?

What about some of these elephant guns in the .60 and .70 range? These guys pay a tax too?

It depends. Does it have a flash suppressor and collapsible stock?

Lahtis are a lot of fun, except for that damned muzzlebreak..

(250 yard shots? Try 2500 yard!)
