Go with a ruger, there's more to do with them, and they are more accurate for a decent price.  How much is he asking anyway?  If the price is right, go for it!

The price is the main reason Im going for it, hes asking 250 with 5000 rounds of Winchester ammo

Are you kidding? GO FOR IT!!! The cheapest I've ever seen Winchester .22 Mag ammo is $5 for a box of 50. That's $500 in ammo alone -- you can easily sell half of it off and have the other 2500 rounds and the rifle for free!

BTW, if ya like .22 Mag rifles, the Marlin 882 series has a pretty good rep among varmint hunters. The triggers can be a little cruddy but respond well to a simple polishing trigger job, and the accuracy usually ranges from excellent to tack-driving. The only complaint I've ever heard is the high cost of ammo, and you've got that one covered.

Thast why Im seriously looking at it, I was just hesitant because of the 22 Mag. I have a 223 and a 22LR. I really dont see the point of a 22 mag. But I figure for the price I cant go wrong. Something to play around with I guess

My first rifle was a Marlin 782, biggest POS I've ever bought. 10! pound trigger, stamped everything-hated it.

I used to own a Marlin 881SS (.22 LR). Believe it or not, it was the best damn shooting .22 I have ever owned.

Ive had alot of experiance with the Marlin 25N. I rent a dozen from Marlin every summer for my Boy Scout summer camp. i really think they are good little guns, specially since the kids put  close to a thousand rounds through each gun each week. They hold up real well.

Forgot to add that I did purchase the rifle today. Just have to wait the 10 days now,

Anyone know where I can get the mags for it? The Marlin website has tehm for 13 bucks but I figured there was somewhere cheaper to get them at

wait 10 days...geez.  what a shame.  anyway you can probably get extra mags at wal mart (i know) or a sports store like gander mountain.  you probably don't have one in CA, and who knows if it's legal to sell mags at a normal store in cali..you could also try ebay.

I have an 882SQ  After having the trigger lightened up, I shot many one hole groups at 75yards with it.  They might not be an Anchutz, but they do shoot considerably well.
