Before I cut into the foam (yes, I know it can be replaced if I screw up...) I'd be interested in seeing how folks configure their hard cases.

What cut outs do you do for accessaries? How did you utilize the space in your case? How do you configure spare mags cut-outs, etc?

AFAIK this hasn't been done before here. It's a good chance to show off your gear and creativity.

If it has, then please post a link.

BTW - I'm using the case for my 10.5" SBR, with can attached. I'll post pix tomorrow...

Just a consideration, using a soft case inside a hard case offers just as much protection without the potential for having to go through several iterations of foam. I originally cut the foam in my 1700 thinking I had my rifle perfected. Shortly thereafter I realized that it wasn't the configuration I desired, and now the rifle I had dedicated to the case looks nothing like it did when I originally cut the foam. Also, I found out that storing the rifle for any length of time, the foam holds moisture and my rifle began to develop rust.

If you do decide to go with cut foam, make sure you leave a spot for a desiccant of some type. Just a couple things to think about.

WOW! I was at a gun show and a guy had surplus NVG goggle cases for 10 bucks. Heavier and more durable than even pelican cases and I bought an army od green sleeping pad. I put a layer of blue in the bottom and lined it one half side with stacked layers of the green. I now have my glock, 5 mags, all the cleaning gear and tools, a speed loader, all in the one side. A layer separates the sides and the other side are 2 combat knives, extra 2 boxes ammo, holster and mag carrier and back up weapon/mags also cut out. besides the labor....$16.00????

(Extra gear foam pulled for work......)
