Skimmed through the archives and found a similar problem posted but never found a clear answer. Since I have now run up against the same issue, thought I'd post in hopes of tapping into the collective experience for guidance.

I bought three additional magazines with my carbine. All three were packaged in GSG boxes and were identical to the one included with the rifle but are missing the manufacturer's name and the witness marks tallying the number of cartridges.

After getting back from the range this week, I was reloading the mags and noticed that when fully loaded all of the magazines were splitting along the rear seam. The three unmarked ones moreso that the one that came with the carbine. Checking closer I found that the base pad screws on the three extras apparently are stripped as they refuse to tighten-up. So far, all four have worked fine with nary a ftf, but I'm a bit worried about their future reliability.

Have you encountered this issue? Is there a simple fix short of sending them back?  (I have e-mailed ATI but thought it wouldn't hurt to check here as well.)

Any insight would be appreciated.

As for them getting a gap in the back when fully loaded, That is normal and not a real problem just looks bad,
As for the screws being striped out that maybe a warranty issue with GSG if they are new.
But if they have no markings at all on them then they are older GSG mags, The newer ones have the round counts on the sides

If they are used there is a way to fix the stripped screws

Place a drop or two of Super glue in each hole and run the screws in and let dry. The super glue makes new threads and will not stick to the metal screw as well as the plastic so you can remove them later and you have threads again.

I hope this helps

Thank you, sir!

This is exactly the info I needed.

The three extra mags are new but I would rather fix them myself if possible than go through the hassle of sending them in to ATI. Going to try your fix tonight.

Thanks again.
