I purchased a AAC 762 SD and a 51T blackout flash hider. The one that I selected was 1/2x28 in 7.62 caliber. This flash hider will be mounted on a 5.56 rifle.

Did I select the wrong flash hider? I have not opened the package and wanted to make sure it was the right one first.

I also purchased a 5/8x24 in 7.62 for my .308 bolt gun.

Thanks in advance.

You're on the right path. 51T mounts don't differentiate caliber. If it fits it fits.  Carry on.

So putting the 7.62 caliber flash hider on 5.56 rifle will cause no issues?

No.

What types of issues are you looking for?

You're overthinking it. All 51T cans fit all 51T mounts.  If yours is threaded the correct thread pitch for your barrel then you are GtG with that can.

I probably really am overthinking it... but I do that sometimes.

My concern was that having the 7.62 caliber flash hider on a 5.56 would create issues inside the can.

BTW I am a complete newb to silencers!

Thank you for answering my questions

The only "problem" with a 7.62 can on a 5.56 is that you won't get quite the advertised sound reduction; IOW it will be a little noisier than a 5.56 can on a 5.56.

But it is commonly done so as to have one can for two (or more) guns.

If the threading is correct, you're GTG. I have a 762SD and I really like it.

I have a 7.62 can on an 11.5" and my buddy aslo has an 11.5" but with an M42K.  We couldn't tell a difference shooting them side by side.

The meter might say there's a difference, but it's not enough for us to tell.

And I believe you.

I would guess that the felt (heard) difference has to be minute.
