Is it recommended to run a A5 Buffer System on a 10.5" SBR? I'm a newbie and haven't ever got the chance to test different buffer weights out before. My plan is putting the A5 Buffer System on my lower and using a LMT SOPMOD Stock with it.... WIll this work? Thanks in advance.

Comes highly recommended. Anything you'd use an H2 buffer for, the standard A5 setup will do more smoothly.

I've got that set up on a 10.5 with a Sopmod works great, getting ready to do the same on my 11.5, and 12.5

I run one on my SBR. I recommend it.

I have two SBR lowers with A5 buffers and I'm getting ready to put it on a third. I've been shooting my LMT 10.5" with the A5 and it works great. I use CTR, MOE, and Sopmod stocks with the A5 receiver extension.

I also have a Vltor AR10 RE that is the same length as the A5 specific RE. The only difference is that the first position for the stock is missing. I don't think it matters though because all my stocks only close to hole #2 on the A5 specific RE.

A5 works great for me also, run them on a variety of SBR's with good results.

i noticed that the A5 system can be purchased in parts. can anyone explain which exact parts id need to run my Magpul STR stock? is it just the buffer, spring and tube extension? Does this kit basically just "extend" my buffer tube/stock out a little bit further when collapsed?

thanks ahead of time for the responses :)

STR will fully collapse on the A5 according to MagPul.

You'll need the buffer, buffer tube, and spring. Everything else is the same.

awesome thanks! so if the tube is the same diameter and length, what the hell is so different about the system??? im confused

The tube is longer. Buffer is longer. Spring is a rifle spring instead of a carbine spring.

Thanks Josh! So before i pull the trigger on this kit, do i JUST need the buffer tube and spring? or is their buffer different too? I currently run a Spikes ST2. Anyone recommend a vendor to purchase these parts from? :)

and how much longer is the buffer tube over a standard one? like, how much OAL will it add to the gun?

I'm not sure how much longer it is exactly. Yes the buffer is longer also. An STR will fully collapse on the A5, so overall length will be unaffected in the collapsed position.

Been thinking about adding an A5 to my RR. Do they work good in FA?
