Got a good deal on a used 30 caliber thunder trap. Ended up being threaded 9/16 instead of the standard 5/8. Trying to decide to rethread my barrel or the can. Have a lathe so can do either. What would you do?

Can.

There are so few rifles out there thread 9/16x24 that it would be worth it to change the can to the standard 5/8x24.  unless of course you have an L1A1

Agreed. 9/16-24 is standard for .40 cal (that aren't metric threaded). Not going to want to shoot a .40 projectile through a .30 hole.

Thanks for the input. Called AWC. They said some can be rethread some they have to weld in a new end cap. They want $400 for the work.
I've got a while as the form 4 just got mailed today.
