Any big differences in the 1940 Tula and a 1943 Izhevsk rifles?  Is one better quality than the other? Been looking at some ads and trying to decide which one I'm more interested in. The 40 had brass handguard ends, about the only cosmetic difference? Thanks. Greg

Tula is generally regarded as the better factory. The fact is you would have to check both guns and just go with the one in better shape. The historical problem with Nagants have been sloppy triggers. Get the smoothest tightest trigger pull you can find. But in general, Tulas- although harder to find, generally put on better stuff at the time. But alot can happen in 60 years!

Tula built fewer rifles.  As a rule the earlier dates should be better than the later ones.  But major differences between the two?  Few if any.
