Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 91/30 handguard band spring removal?

Just got my first Mosin, a 1932 Tula. Cleaning up the cosmo on the stock. How do you remove the handguard band springs from the stock? Theres still some cosmoline under them and it would be easiest if I could just remove them to clean them up. Thanks. Greg

i just pulled and wiggled em out. on the other side you will see the end of it use a nail as a punch or a punch and tap em out if the wont move.
