I bought a German Mauser 98, I think its a Russian Capture. So I ran down to the local gun store and bought a box of 8mm. This is the Mitchells Mausers premium bullets, the box is marked 8mm, but on the back it has in small print "these are loaded to modern standards with .323 bullets, do not use in older rifles with .318 bores". Now what do I do, is it safe to use, the Rifle I have is from 1943. How am I supposed to know the bore size???

The .323 bullets will work just fine in any Mauser made during the war. The old .318 diameter bullets were used mostly in the old 88 commission rifles and most of them were converted later to .323, then they were marked with an S to denote the change.

Yup, a rifle from 1943 is definitely the later .323 bore.
