Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 870 barrel help

I have a older model 870 and I purchased a new 870 18" barrel. My old barrel had the detent ball and my new barrel does not, how will I keep the mag tube from coming loose.

Have you posted this on two other forums????

The answer is, about the only thing you can do is put some plumbers Teflon pipe tape on the magazine tube's threads and tighten the cap down tight.
Then watch it closely to be sure it doesn't come loose.
