I recently bought an 870 that's having some feeding problems. The shells are coming out of the mag properly but the they are getting stuck when trying to go into the chamber. The problem seems to be either the edges of the barrel are too sharp and the shells gets caught there or the metal bar that is supposed to line the shell up with the barrel isn't pushing the shell up high enough to properly enter the barrel. Sorry if I'm not using the correct tech terms, I'm new at shotguns. I did a 30 day search in the archives and I didn't see this issue.

If it's new, get Remington warranty service.

I had a similar issue long ago with a 20 ga 870 - shooting 2 3/4 " shells in a 3" chamber. Dirty chamber.

Good luck

It's not new. I bought it for $100 from my brother in law. He hadn't shot it in a long time. I'm going to try cleaning the chamber this weekend but I wasn't sure if there were other things I should look for.
