I am thinking about getting a can for my 6.8 AR. I was told that I could use a 5.56 can. I did not think a 5.56 can would work with the 6.8. Does anybody know if I can use a 5.56 can??

maybe they meant you can take a 556 can and bore it out and then use it. Like you thought you cannot use a regular 556 can with 6.8 without some issues

Yeah, that is what I thought. Thanks for your help.

boring out 556 cans to 6.8 have been done. AAC offered a limited run of the mod7 556 cans bored out and I know ADCO's Bigbore has experimented with it in the past as well. I cannot comment on performance though. Alot of people were running 30 cal cans and reports seemed favorable.

Most 6.8's have a 5/8 thread, I would go with a .30 thread on suppressor. It would give you more options in the long run. I shot 5.56 through it and it sounds pleasing.

The prob with the 30 cals is that they're heavy. I heard that Knights is going to do a limited run of 6.8 cans in the future.

I run a .30 can on my 6.8mms.

Boring a 5.56 can without an EDM could be quite problematic...

IIEC AAC has a 6.8 can.
