I'm assuming H335..... is this correct? I have over 2000 once fired, deprimed LC 1998 brass that I'm
gonna start reloading in about a month. (I've got about 2500 Remmy 7-1/2 primers)

I'd like to load most of this in a near 5.56 NATO loading (mostly 55 and 60 grain Hornady bullets)....

It'll be feeding Dad's Rock River 16" M4gery (1-7 twist barrel) and my Noveske N4 lite 16".....

Is there a benefit to using Varget over H335? I have one lb. of H335, 9 lbs of H322 (saving for my
6.8 reloads maily). I wanna get a 8lb canister of either H335 or Varget.... just need to know what
ya'll would reccommend for a close copy cat of 5.56.

I hate to be this guy but....

Keep in mind that these loads are developed with non canister grade powders with pressure testing equipment that we handloaders could never afford. Try TAC, that's about as close as you can get with MK262

I'd just be wary of popping primers with 5.56 pressures.

So you want to load Mk262, M855, M193, etc.?

  I'd load using Hodgdons data for H335 with 55 fmj bullets.. Their data is very close to the results I get in my rifles using RP 7 1/2 primers in RP, LC, and WCC brass. Velocity is within 100 fps or so to military numbers and Hodgdon's max load should be safe. Start lower and work up to Hodgdon's recommended charges.
 I like Alliant Reloder 15 for the 77 grain Sierra bthp and the above data for Rel 15 is reliable.

I like H335 and get good results with any Hornady 55 bullet.  Follow their data.

You will find that the 223/5.56 is very easy to have success with.  You will find that many people have many opinions as to what powder to use, primers etc.  I have have very good results using Reloader 15, H335, and H322.  I have test loads made up and yet to shoot for Reloader 7, reloader 10x and one more that excapes the mind at the moment.  RL 15 and H335 and H322 are great for me.  I do not load for that "I want MILSPEC" load.  I load cause I like punching paper and making the tightest group I can get on that perticular day.  You will find that loading for accuracy may be close to milspec valocities, but why worry about it?  Load something that is grouping nice in your black rifle and smile when you walk down range and see that nice tight group.

Here's what I am using with Hornady 55gr FMJ's.  H335 25gr OAL 2.25 Crimped using a LEE Factory Crimp Die. [i]Go look up the load DATA in your manual before using this load info to varify this as safe info.[/i]
This load is grouping consistantly right around 1 inch at 100 yards using a DPMS AR15 AP4 16" 1-9 twist.  My buddy has same gun and gets same results with this load.  This load will clover leaf/one ragged hole at 25 yards.  If you ask the ? How much H335 do you l;aod for 223/5.56 you will find that the average is 25gr some load less some load more.  Not sure if this helps but it's my 2 cents for ya.

Oh ya...I have not tried Varget yet but have it on the list of powders to try.  I am vorking up loads for many powders so as to have many powder choices when I go in to buy powder and run into that "we're out of that powder" thing.  THis has gotten much better this last month up here in MN.  Primers on the other hand...well their still hard to find.

A few of us have testing equipment and test our loads . There is more than one powder that will get you where you need to be to duplicate that load.

Whats the avg load of Varget with the 77gr MK's? 23 - 24gr's?

I don't use Varget in 5.56, I stick with ball powders like BL-C2 and Win 748 . On occasion I will use H-4895 for a 5.56 load . I also have a big stash or IMR 8208 for this round as well . Here are a few proven loads using several powders .

I also have plenty of H335 and Benchmark to work with, I noticed both being on your chart as well.

I always heard Varget was great for the heavy long range bullets is why I was asking about it in particular. It looks like the Benchmark does well with a speed of 2,523 fps at a pressure of only 27,400 CUP for a starting load, I would have thought it would have been a little to fast of a powder for the heavy bullets since you never see any load data for it in the manuals for it. I use it(Benchmark) for my 60gr Nosler BT varmint loads with good accuracy using 23.5 gr's and CCI400 or Rem 7 1/2 primers.

I only have 21 of the 77gr bullets to play with to see if I like them or not, but am going this week to pick up 500 69gr MK for $100, does this seem like an OK price for them?

I wasn't going to buy any more powder types but it looks like I might have to try some BL-C2 for the hell of it since I have so many #41 primers that don't like the extruded powders like Varget, even though I'm using them with the H335 and 62gr FMJ's with decent luck so far.  I'm still needing to work up a 55gr FMJ load with H335 and #41 primers but I bet its still going to be close to the same 25gr's I use with the normal primers.
