How easy/quick is it to change the barrel on a 556xi?? What tools are needed?? And how much are the parts/barrels/bolts/lowers going to cost??

Thanks, bill

Hey Bill!

Well only a few of them have trickled out, but in this thread here, you can see a picture of the bbl nut:

Based on that I'm guessing you'll need at a minimum a AR barrel nut wrench, and possibly a torque wrench if the torque spec isn't simply "PFT".

As for your other questions, nobody knows yet. Previously, a SIG 551A1 or 556 lower cost approximately $400USD shipped from SIG. Whether that will go up, down, or stay the same remains to be seen, but I am sure we will know soon.

I asked this question awhile back in another thread. More information is available now (especially pictures), but still incomplete. There is an armorer's wrench, but no information on torque specs or if there will be a receiver / barrel vice required. From the looks, I do not know how they can call this barrel quick or easy to change.

Quicker change than the old one.

Not much about the actual barrel change in the disassembly. I have field stripped it to clean it but the top rails have Torx screws and they have to come off to access the barrel.

see if you can see the pages from here.
