Its was a toss up whether to post this here or in the optic forum but I figure in here everyone will have SBR specific opinions.

So I have a 300blk SBR build thats still pending approval from a govt bureaucrat and I just ordered an upper for it today.

Next will be optics. Its going to have a 10'' barrel and I will be using a can on it as well. I was thinking about putting a 1-4x scope on it instead of a red dot, as well as BUIS if they'll fit with the scope on there. Im not locked in to the scope idea but I think I might prefer it. 150 yards will probably be as far as I would be zeroing it for, since thats about the max for the subsonic rounds anyway (from what I have read). I would like to try to keep it below $500 for the price.

Opinions? Pictures?

Thanks.

I put a 1.5x or 2x ACOG on mine (can't remember). Its great, compact, & in theory the reticle would give you better references to holdover for Subsonics than a red dot.

Leupold 1.5-4 Mark AR Mod 1.  Came with 300BLK turrets, which was convenient.  Good price point for me, very good scope, no complaints at all.  Here it is from SWFA

Edit: also a 10.3" barrel

I've got a 1-4 Vortex Viper pst on my 8" 300 blk, just gotta have a dope card to keep up with what mil lines go with supers and subs. It's really good glass for $500 and you can't beat their warranty. I believe it is around 17 oz, if Leupold had a true 1-4 scope that weighed less I would have gone that route but the closest thing they have is the 1.5-5 mk4 with 300 blk reticle at around $1200.

Sold the Leupold 1-4

I think a red dot would be more than fine for my needs. We'll see

I use a T-2 for mine. I zeroed @ 100 yards for subs. At 150 yards, there is a 12.5" drop. 200 yards is a 33" drop. If you're mounting a scope, I'd skip the BUIS. My 2 cents.

I am using an SWFA 1-6 on my 10.5" BLK.  Main reason is because I needed to maximize elevation for shooting subs at LR.  In a 20 mOA mount, it gives me over 37 mrad of elevation when counting the reticle + the turret.  It also seems like a decent SR optic, but I haven't spent much time doing SR stuff with it yet.

Just picked up a TA33 ACOG with the BLK reticle for my Noveske 10.5 barreled build. My brother and I are cerakoting it Friday and assembly is this weekend!

I use a leupold VX-R 1-4x and like it pretty well.  Only a couple of times have I wished for more magnification, and 1-6x are getting cheaper every day...

It sounds like ill have to get used to shooting the subs vs supersonics. I didnt realize they had such different ballistics.

An ACOG would be cool but i just cant swing it.

I have a red dot for subs and a 1-4 for supers.  I dont like the dual reticle optics because they do not account for left/right deviation and the hash marks are rarely correct for SBR barrel lengths anyway.

I like the TA47 on my 8.2" Noveske. 2x ACOG, 9moa triangle reticle. Zeroed the tip for supers. Can be found for close to your budget fairly often in the EE.

I've got an Eotech with a flip to side magnifier. That's more than enough for what my intended performance envelope of the cartridge as my rifle is designed. I've got other uppers for ranges beyond its purpose.

I just picked up a Aimpoint ACO on the EE I plan on my putting on my 8" upper.

Same here I love my SWFA 1-6. I actually have two of them both on SBRs.

I run red dots on all my 10.5 inch and shorter SBR's.  (T2, H2, H1, MRO, PRO, Comp C3). My 12.5 inch SBR runs a Vortex PST 1-4x and I have a TR24 on another rifle (used to be on my SBR).

Reason I switched from 1-4's to red dots were weight, I picked up my SBR's and they felt just as heavy as my 16 inchers with all the crap I have on it.....

I recently faced the same dilemma.  I have 300 BLK SBR with a 10.5" barrel.  I plan to use it largely for hunting, as I have other guns for personal protection.  That doesn't mean it couldn't serve in a defensive role, that just isn't what I am optimizing it for.  I went with a Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 with mil dot reticle.  I have one on another gun and really liked it.  I also have the Mark AR Mod 1 1.5-4x20 with duplex reticle on another gun.

I chose the 3-9x40 for the 300 BLK because I find that to be the most useful range of magnification for most of the hunting situations I find myself in.  I went with the mil dot reticle because it gives me nice hold points for shooting subs or for shooting supers at extended ranges.  I have the rifle zeroed at 100 yards with 110 grain supers.  With that same zero, the bottom mil dot is the hold point for 220 grain subs at the same range.

I had one of these on my 8.5" Barrel 300 Blk and couldn't be happier. Amazing scope given the price. I moved it over to my 300 blk Ruger American and will be buying another one shortly to put back on the SBR.

I like that. I'm going to have to learn how to set up a dope card and how to read different reticules it looks like.

For 150 or less, a red dot or a mini ACOG is the way to go. Fast, forgiving head position, lightweight. Might come in a touch over $500.

I'm using an Aimpoint Micro H-1 on my 10.5" and it works great.
